Squad DM until people show up, and then Reg Rush... FOR NOW.
To find this server, either join up through friends, or do a search on [gh] or gamehavoc.
will this server give me ping under 200![]()
Go and find out!
ORLY?
So, doing some research, it'll be difficult to fill this up. There is some trickery you can do with making a brand new character, and funneling all the new players who click on 'Play Now' into your server.
Unfortunately, you have to have it set to non hardcore, and have a PB flag disabled for it to work. However, I can set it up so that after we fill it up with newbies, we can switch it to HC on map change.
Also, for anyone I give admin to, you need to download this program: http://phogue.net/?page_id=389
There is no traditional in-game admin options, you have to use a 3rd party program. Kind of lame actually.
BUT BUT BUT IT HAS DEDICATED SERVERS DOESN'T THAT MEAN RCON AND STUFF.
Whoa blast from the past email notification
I love mass mail![]()
I am officially pinging under 100. Holy hell.
Smokeh
Going to be interesting filling the server with people in part who are looking for a server that is not running PB. You are going to want to pay attention to that. Could piss off as many people as you gain...
While I understand HC may be better or preferred for some of us, our first goal needs to be keeping things active and full. I'll roll with whatever suits that best (But if you can set it to Domination on High Rise, I'm down)
Schedule a night and I'll let the Studio Rumble people know too, as there's a bunch there that play BF:BC2 too and would probably love a regular server to frequent.
Well, my plan would be to 'jump start' the server using the method to bring in the newbs, then it looks like it's full on the server browser. After a map on regular, I can switch it to be hardcore on the next map cycle.
Also, I don't actually turn PB off, there is just a server flag that turns on and off for whatever reason.
Glad I found this. I will be joining as soon as I finish reading through the forums. If no one is in at least I can save it to favs.
Smokeh - One thing that seems to work on the server I frequent is they put it on Squad DM and then after one map its back to rotation. The admin sets it up when things die down. The server seems to fill every time before we reach 50 points, and most of the people stick around for at least a map or two.
Cool deal,,would be badass to get some traffic on that server.
server was empty!!!!!
I'm thinking about running it as Squad DM during the day, and then if we actually get people playing I can switch it over to Rush after a map change.
The biggest problem with these servers is getting it full. We need to attract regulars, and figure out someway the server can stay active and full as much of the day as possible.
Personally, when I'm looking for servers, anything with less than 25 players on it is something I'm not even going to consider.
And for now, I'll probably leave it as regular, and not hardcore, to drive as many people as possible.
